Besides having a printed and bound scrapbook, you might want to put the scrapbook online. Why? Because you can distribute copies to friends and family a lot cheaper this way. Or, maybe you want to give them a DVD video copy that they can enjoy in the living room. And while you’re at it, you could give them a scrapbook on CD that they could flip through on their computer...

I know - slow down and stay on one subject. My wife tells me that all the time. Okay, let’s tackle the online scrapbook option first.

Online Scrapbooks - A really cool online scrapbook service is Issuu; please go to www.issuu.com to see it in action. You can join for free and upload Word, PowerPoint, or Acrobat pdfs to issuu. They turn your document into a fully interactive online document that people all over the world could find if yuo allow it to be public. You can mark documents as private if you’d prefer.

They have a pro version that is available for just $19/month that eliminates the ad bar that shows up on the free version. The Pro version has a lot of extra features that you may or may not be interested in. Check it out and I think you’ll be blown away as well. You can search for content of interest. Who know - maybe your friends are already using it.

You really need to see an Issuu publication to appreciate how cool this is. I randomly selected this one for you to see - it’s about motorcross racing. Isn’t that the coolest way to enjoy a magazine?

CD Scrapbooks - Any time someone gives me a bunch of photos, slides, negatives, etc. I offer to make them a two disk set so they can have a digital scrapbook of their memories. One of the disks will be a DVD video where the scrapbook items are edited into a video with music. I use Apple’s Final Cut Pro 3 Studio to create the video.

This is a nice way for someone to enjoy their memories. They can sit back and relax with a personal reflection on days gone by.

The CD scrapbooks we create are made using a really cool program called Flipalbum www.flipalbum.com - it is without a doubt the coolest way to enjoy pictures once they been scanned, edited and ready to give the customer.

We started using Flipalbum when it first came out back in 1998. Flipalbum allows us to easily create a digital scrapbook from photos that can be burned onto a CD and then popped into a Windows or Mac computer. The scrapbook opens up to give the user a scrapbook that they can actually sit and flip through the pages. It evens makes a page flipping sound when you turn the pages.

Flipalbum has a ton of great features, but my favorite part is that you can right-click on a photo and select “print”. This allows anyone that you give a copy of the CD to be able to print their own copies of one or more of the photos. This really makes it easy for family to share photos.
